Followed by a series of postponements, the court has finally set the date for the execution of the four convicts in Nirbhaya rape and murder case. While the four convicts are instructed to be hanged together on March 3rd, one of the convicts has indulged in injuring himself which seemed to be another tactic to delay the execution.
Vinay Sharma, one of the four convicts has reportedly banged his head against the wall of his cell at Tihar jail in Delhi. Followed by which his lawyer has sought the court for high-level medical treatment stating grievous head injury, fracture in his right arm, mental illness and schizophrenia. Tihar jail authorities confirmed the news stating that the incident took place in jail number 3 while he has been getting treated for the injuries in the jail premises itself.
The incident which took place on Sunday came to limelight with Vinay’s lawyer approaching the court. Perpetually, the doctors who treated Vinay informed that has been unable to recognise people, including his mother. “We referred to the Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences hospital for further treatment,” said of the doctors. It is known news that Vinay Sharma’s lawyer had earlier also claimed that he was assaulted in jail and that he was suffering from acute mental illness, so the death sentence cannot be carried out.
