While the death toll increased to two and the number of hospitalised surpassed 350 in Eluru town in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district with complaints of giddiness and epilepsy, a report from Delhi AIMS came as an eye-opener to the authorities.
The Delhi AIMS doctors who inquired about the Eluru mystery illness speculated that the mixture used to purify the water as the reason behind the menace. Despite the authorities ruling out the water contamination, the expert team from Delhi opined that the drug overdose to purify the drinking water as the main possibility.
Meanwhile, 117 admitted patients were discharged upon fully recovering and about 30 were discharged on Sunday while the number of the patient getting admitted drastically increased. In wake of the situation, the administration has declared a holiday in educational institutions across Eluru. A 24×7 control room has been set up in the Eluru Municipal Corporation office.
