As predicted by almost all the exit polls and citizen of Delhi, Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) pulled off a landslide victory to retain power for a third term. In the results shown as of 5 PM on Tuesday, the people’s man gave a bitter shock to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to the Election Commission, AAP is leading in 63 seats and the BJP is leading in seven seats while the Congress party drew a blank in the city it ruled for three consecutive terms.
After fathoming a clear majority in the Assembly polls, Arvind Kejriwal addressed the supporters at AAP office alongside wife Sunita, daughter Harshita, son Pulkit and party leaders Gopal Rai, Raghav Chadha. “Heartfelt thanks to the people of Delhi for giving so much love to their son. Today, Delhiites have given birth to new politics, ‘politics of work’. This is the victory of India. Jai Hind,” Kejriwal says.

The social media accounts of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal flooded with congratulatory messages from fans, followers and noted politicians from across the country. Meanwhile, Manoj Tiwari, Delhi BJP chief welcomed the results with a congratulatory message to Arvind Kejriwal. “Thank you to the voters in Delhi. For their hard work. I respect the mandate of the people. Congratulations to Arvind Kejriwal,” he tweeted, minutes after Kejriwal’s victory speech.
