National capital New Delhi on Monday registered the minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius hitting the city with a thick blanket of fog. This has reportedly affected the train and flight operations leading to the city. According to the Railway authorities, thirty trains were delayed to the extent of seven to eight hours. Flight operations at the New Delhi airport have also been affected due to poor visibility.
In an official statement, Delhi Airport has requested the passengers to stay in touch with the airline concerned for updated flight information. India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday had issued a red warning for the national capital owing to the weather conditions. Delhi’s air quality index was in a severe category at 450, as per the Safdarjung observatory. Dense fog is also being witnessed in all main places in and around New Delhi. Which also led to an accident that took the lives of six citizens reportedly.
