Seems like Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy didn’t mend his ways even after tasting a bitter experience followed by his remarks on Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The TRS leader in a recent development stirred up a new controversy with his derogatory remarks on government officers belonging to backward castes.
Opining that Telangana state is being ruined as a result of the lack of merit among government employees in marginalised cates, Dharma Reddy stated that upper castes are not securing jobs while others without merit were getting positions.
Further adding that his statement shouldn’t be made a controversy again, the MLA suggested that the Union government consider reviewing the country’s reservation policy. However, the main opposition Congress took no qualms to hit back the MLA’s remarks demanding Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao suspend him for his “racist arrogance”.
The MLA, however, after the issue escalated issued an apology in a press meet here on Monday. “I apologize if I intentionally hurt any community’s sentiments. I was trying to explain the benefits of reservations pertaining to economically weaker sections (EWS) by stating an example. Some media houses have misinterpreted and distorted my statements and political parties are using this against me,” he said.
