Despite the state registering a total of 161 cases of adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) since the day the first phase of COVID vaccination began, Andhra Pradesh on Saturday began administering the second dose of coronavirus vaccine to frontline workers.
According to the state health ministry, Healthcare and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) workers are the first to take the second round of inoculation.
It can be noted that 19, 108 health workers received either ‘Covishield’ produced by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) or ‘Covaxin’ made by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in relevance with their first dose.
It can be noted that this vaccination drive will wrap up by March 5th after which there would be no inoculation while February 25 will be the last date for first vaccine dose, stated Health Commissioner Katamneni Bhaskar.
Though the state reported a total of 161 cases of adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) so far, only five of them were admitted to the hospital under serious health conditions out of which three persons have passed away.
