While the tussle between Shiva Sena and BJP is still on, Devendra Fadnavis on Friday submitted his resignation as Maharastra Chief Minister. Meeting the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhawan on Friday, Devendra tendered his resignation letter. The resignation came hours before the deadline to form the new government in Maharastra ends. This move from the ruling party’s end has pushed the situations closer to the Presidential rule.
Addressing media after submitting his resignation, Devendra Fadnavis stated that the is fortunate enough to serve the state for 5 years. “I am thankful to the people of Maharashtra and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and all member of the council of ministers who supported me through the tenure,” he added. He also said that no discussion has happened so far regarding the rotational chief minister with Shiv Sena.
The spat doesn’t seem to have an end in any time near as the Shiva Sena disagree to come into terms with BJP on 50-50 power-sharing formula. The BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member house while the Shiva Sena got 56 which can together form a government. But the issue took its serious form as the Sena refused to play along.
