As soon as Kumaraswamy took the oath as the 24th chief minister of Karnataka, the first thing he did was sending the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Neelamani Raju on a transfer.
The reason was simple as it was Neelamani Raju made the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee a few meters outside the Vidhan Soudha during HD Kumaraswamy’s swearing-in ceremony.
Speaking to the media over the same, an official of the state home ministry denied any political reason and said that transfers are a regular occurrence in the police department. Notably, Neelamani Raju is the first woman DG-IGP of Karnataka.
