Touted to be a trendsetter property registration in bringing transparency, Dharani, the property registration web portal has become the care-of-address for grievances. The Telangana Journalists’ Study Forum has alleged that the government has created new problems with claims that land disputes will be resolved through the Dharani portal.
The forum has alleged that the state government has been troubling lakhs of farmers across the state under the name of the Dharani portal. It recalled that about 20 lakh acres were placed on the prohibited list under Section 22A. While 90,000 complaints have been received on the portal so far, the government reportedly failed to resolve at least 20,000 of them.
As per the records, over 70,000 applications are registered missing land complaints in the Dharani portal while 2.5 lakh applications are regarding mutation, 2 lakh through AGPA & GPA, and other 2 lakh files on other issues. However, the portal mentioned these to be complaints not necessary to be rectified immediately.
Numerous complaints registered in the portal can be resolved at MRO and ARO levels, however, with the power now vested at only collector lakhs of grievances are left pending across 33 districts. Telangana Journalists’ Study Forum also found fault with 3 lakh acres of land belonging to freedom fighters and political sufferers being listed under the prohibited list.
