The re-postmortem on the B Pharmacy student Ayesha Meera’s body which was buried 12 years back after a series of examinations in 2007 grabbed the attention of global media also. Though the CBI team faced a few hitched from the Muslim heads owing to the religious concerns, going by the High Court orders, the 8-membered team conducted the re-postmortem on Saturday. CBI officials exhumed the body to take the samples as forensic evidence and wrapped up the procedures after 6 hours of a tiring process as the mortal remains only have bones. Reacting on the latest development, Ayesha Meera’s mother Shamshad Begum made sensational comments on the Jagan-led government.
In the wake of the state assembly approving the ‘AP Disha Act’, Shamshad Begum who has been fighting all the odds to seek justice for her daughter reacted to the CBI’s step to conduct re-postmortem. She stated that though they were not in hope of justice to be served, they would cooperate with the team owing to the law. “Our religious elders were against the exhuming the remains of the body, but we defied them for the sake Law,” she added. Specking to a channel after the re-postmortem, Shamshad Begum said that they don’t have faith in Jagan’s government. “Disha got justice because she hails from superior caste. We don’t believe justice will be served in this government for us minorities though we are struggling from 12 years,” she said. Ayesha Meera’s mother also alleged that the then government has offered them Rs 25 lakhs to hush up the case.
