Increasing positive cases…stringent curfew rules…hiking prices of the commodities..above all the Corona scare over which the citizen are restraining themselves from coming out..rounding it off the nationwide lockdown has been throwing new challenges to both citizen and government. While the citizens are resorting to panic buying, all the local markets and supermarkets were seen crowded increasing the risks of viral contractions. Upon which the state governments came up with different ideas to create awareness on social distancing.
In a recent revelation, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh governments have come up door-to-door home delivery of essential commodities to their citizen to contain the spread of novel Coronavirus. Talking over the same, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal of Ludhiana district in Punjab, the first district to start the door-to-door delivery stated that almost 674 grocery shops, medicine shops, LGP, green fodder for animals have registered with the government which are uploaded to the website. Helpline numbers 0161-2401347, 9464696757 have also been issued.
The government also stated that they have tied up with Swiggy, Zomoto, and other online companies for supplying grocery items door to door who need to take necessary permission for the district administration in advance. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced that their government is ready with an action plan for the door-to-door delivery of essential items and a ban on the sale, production and distribution of ‘paan masala and ‘gutkha’.
On this note, a few of the analysts speculated the effectiveness of the action plan, while government websites and helpline numbers tend to be unavailable for the common man. One has to wait and see if the action plan turns into a success story which helped in curbing the spread of dreadful viral infection.
