Days after the state High Court accorded the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the premier investigating agency is no time started fastening the cord around Visakhapatnam police. CBI on Friday registered a case against unknown police personnel, public servants, and others for brutally handling anaesthetist Dr Kolaventy Sudhakara Rao who raised voice against the PPE crunch in the state.
Based on the statement taken from Dr Sudhakar who is now admitted to Visakhapatnam Hospital for Mental Health, CBI has reportedly charged FIRs under 120B, 324,343, 379 and 506 levelling criminal Conspiracy, voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons of means, wrongful confinement for three or more days, theft and criminal intimidation.
It was learnt that the FIR registered by the CBI mentioned that Sudhakara Raa’s a bike, two mobile phones, car keys, Rs 10 lakh cash and wallet with ATM cards are stolen from him. It is to the known knowledge that State Telugu Mahila president and former MLA Vangalapudi Anitha has written to High Court over the Visakhapatnam police who arrested the doctor on road half-naked for allegedly creating nuisance in public abusing the Andhra Pradesh government. High Court has taken the case on suo-moto cognisance, followed by which CBI was directed to take up the case and complete the investigation within eight weeks.
