Hours after all major news portals reported the death of ‘Drishyam’ fame Bollywood director Nishikant Kamat, news that he is still alive came to everyone’s shock. The 50-year-old filmmaker was diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad while rumours over his death floated on Monday.
However, clearing the rumours over the director’s heath status, actor Riteish Deshmukh dropped a tweet confirming that Nishikant is still alive and is fighting for his life. He also urged the media to refrain from spreading fake news.

AIG hospital in Gachibowli which is treating the director as well issued an official health bulletin stating that Nishikant Kamat is not dead, but is very critical.’ Here is the statement released by the hospital authorities,
“Mr Nishikant Kamat (50 years, male) was brought to AIG hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 31st July with jaundice and abdominal distention. He has been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. He is in the Intensive Care Unit for continuous monitoring under supervision of a multi-disciplinary team of senior consultants comprising of gastroenterologists, hepatologist, critical care and others. His condition is critical but stable.”
It can be noted that many of his associates, including Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar, actors Renuka Shahane and R Madhavan had started posting their condolences which were taken back after the clarification issued.
