While the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) probe in Bollywood actor Sushant death unearthed new angle in the case, drug menace is now rattling the Kannada film industry. Things started taking a swift turn after the arrest of Kannada film star Ragini Dwivedi on Friday morning in connection with a drug case.
According to police sources, a team of CCB sleuths reached Ragini Dwivedi’s residence at about 6 AM who carried searches for almost two hours. After which the actress was detained while the actress is now being interrogated by Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths.
Amid the speculations that the racket involves many influential people in the industry, sources at CCB revealed that top actors will be grilled very soon in connection with the drug mafia. The official also confirmed that they have already arrested Ravi Shankar, Ragini’s friend and an alleged drug supplier.
It all started with NCB raids in Navi Mumbai on August 20 while the officials seized over 3000 MDMA pills. The officials were learnt to unearth the connections with three-drug peddlers in Bengaluru. After a thorough investigation in Karnataka, the NCB had said that actors and musicians from Karnataka were under its scanner in connection with the racket that was busted.
