Dubbaka Assembly byelection which became inevitable after the death of TRS incumbent MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy in August turned crucial in Telangana politics. As the Assembly elections in Bihar is anticipated to be held in October, the byelection to Dubbaka Assembly constituency is also expected during the same time.
However, the Election Commission on Friday announced the schedule of Bihar polls to the 243 seat-assembly on October 28, November 3 and November 9 while Dubbaka schedule was left on hold. Sources confirmed that it was a deliberate decision taken by the EC, while the officials are learnt to make an announcement on September 29th.
It was leant that the Election Commission has decided to take stock of corona situations in respective states before announcing the dates. Sources confirmed that the Chief Secretaries of the respective states and the state election officials called for a meeting to decide upon the election dates.
A total of 60 by-elections are to be held in the country. Addressing media, CEC Sunil Arora stated that they would decide upon the elections for all these elections by September 29th.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao has already taken the lead in Dubbaka touring the villages in the constituency for the ruling party. While all probabilities have that the late MLA’s widow Sujatha will get the nomination for the seat, BJP has nominated Raghunandan Rao.
The Congress is likely to finalise the candidature of Siddipet DCC president T Narasareddy though Dr D Sravan Kumar and PCC secretary K Venaktanarasa Reddy are also in the race.
