Political circles in Andhra heated up with reports floating over the by-polls for Tirupati constitution which fell incumbent after the death of TRS MP Balli Durga Prasad who succumbed to coronavirus.
While the EC ought to call for elections within six months after the post falls incumbent, political analysts raised speculations that the elections would be held by the end of December or before Sankranthi.
Though the YSRCP high command eyes are on Balli’s family for the contestant, district sources revealing that there is no strong member which turned a concern for the ruling party.
Further, Dubbaka polls which turned the tables in Telangana politics snubbing off the sympathy voting formula stood as the major take-away for YRSCP. Taking everything into consideration, sources added that the ruling party has finalised Madhu, a renowned industrialist’s name to field against BJP, the other main party.
BJP, which has been basking in the victory in Dubbaka now started narrowing down on Andhra politics. Its alliance with JanaSena can be stated as an added advantage for the party that has a good cadre base in Tirupati. Meanwhile, BJP state president Somu Veerraju announced that BJP-Janasena leaders will field a joint candidate.
It can be noted that Dalit and tribal vote bank along with the Hindu mantra will turn crucial in grabbing constituency. However, it can be noted that YSRCP and BJP-JanaSena Alliance would face tough competition from the main opposition TDP.
