Even after 50 years…NO compensation…!?! …High Court fires!
The Telangana High Court expressed its anger on the Telangana government…The High Court expressed its displeasure with the Telangana state Government for not paying compensation to the affected farmers of the Sriramsagar Project whose lands were acquired for the Sriramsagar Project. Even after 50 years have passed by… to date, neither the compensation nor the rehabilitation has affected these farmers.

For the Sriramsagar Project, Seven and a half acres of land and two houses belonging to the ancestors of K Emma Reddy of Maggidi Village of Armur Mandal, of Nizamabad district, were acquired. Afterwards, in the year 1975, the Government issued a decree which states that in return for this, Five acres of ‘Metta’ or Two acres of ‘Magani’ and house plots would be provided.
When Emma Reddy filed a petition stating that the G.O. was not implemented, a single judge has taken up the inquiry on the petition filed by Emma Reddy. It directed the Government to implement the said G.O. within two months. However, the Government has filed an appeal petition challenging this order.
This appeal was recently heard by a Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, and Justice N Tukaramjee. And the Bench has issued directions to the Government to implement the orders given by the single judge.
