Farmer commits suicide after his ‘Rythu Bandhu’ money was stolen

A 75-year-old farmer committed suicide in the Jadcherla Mandal of Mahbubnagar district in the wee hours of Monday. The farmer identified as Malayya from Gangapur village was found hanging from a tree.

 

 

According to the reports, Malayya recently lost the money given by the state government under the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme for farmers. Malayya had received Rs 33,000 as input financial assistance under the scheme four days ago but the money got stolen.

 

The farmer already has R 4 lakhs debt to repay and this theft had depressed him further which led to taking the drastic step.
