We have seen how much hustle and bustle has taken place with regard to grain purchases. The state government has staged dharnas and initiations with the agenda of discrediting the Center despite its own wrongdoing. But eventually declared that they would buy all of the grain themselves. Political scholars say this is the biggest mistake KCR has made. In the following days, the opposition to the TRS government over grain purchases is expected to increase.
KCR has agreed to offer only raw rice to the center, to which the agreement was made where the center confirmed that it will take whatever raw rice was given, accordingly. But KCR started the Yasangi war out of nowhere. Analysts say that the government took an unwise decision by closing down buying centers and threatening farmers about cultivating rice in the first place. There are problems with the gunny bags and transport as they suddenly decided to buy the grain by themselves.
Analysts say the government is facing strong opposition from millers. Millers are asking for an incentive of up to 300 rupees from the government. The government does not agree with these numbers. In this context, the Millers’ fraternities are angry with KCR. Also, Boiled Rice Millers are severely criticizing the government for leaving them nowhere to go.
Analysts say there is deep dissatisfaction among farmers with the TRS government. Because, in many areas, farmers did not even mind growing the crops as they were warned before that paddy isn’t feasible. They are all in a lost situation now because of KCR’s inconsistency. They describe it as the lack of foresight from the government side which eventually made them end up incurring huge losses. Those who sowed in advance sold the crop in advance. They also suffered to some extent. The grain was handed over to low-cost agents. Analysts say that even those farmers are super angry with KCR.
While some farmers are angry as they did not work on cultivating paddy, others who sold the harvest sooner at a low price to the agents are angrier. Farmer groups are severely criticizing the essence of farmer coordination committees and farmer platforms when they were misled all this while. The TRS leaders have been continuously boasting that they were offering farmer bonds and insurance schemes, but in reality, the farmers are utterly dissatisfied with the state governance. Many farmer coordination committees and forums have been set up, but they have become useless and many farmers are angry with the government.
Analysts say that KCR will eventually face the consequences of his blunders, and the growing opposition from the farmers is already indicating that. They say that more critical opposition with aggressive campaigns against the TRS regime is on the way. On the whole, it is pretty clear to everyone that KCR is trying hard to come out of this cobweb of problems he created as opposition from all quarters is growing.
