Farmers at the Medak District Collectorate have raised concerns that the money for the grains was not deposited yet. The complaint states that two months have passed since the agreement and that the money has not been deposited in the accounts so far. Farmers from Narsinghpalli in the Narsinghpur zone of the district protested on the premises of the collectorate saying that the authorities could not care how many times they were told. The farmers expressed their angst saying that all their efforts have been wasted.
Thirty-six farmers weighed paddy at the IKP Center in Narsampally on November 15 last year. However, a person named Babu who works in IKP Center did not enter the details into the system due to negligence. The matter was not even told to the farmers. Worried farmers approached the concerned authorities and asked for the money, they were seen saying that the entry is over and they should come again. The farmers went to the Civil Supplies Office in the Collectorate in December. They said they had no details on who bought the grain from them. Confused farmers went home and told the sarpanch.
Responding, Sarpanch called Babu from IKP Center and asked him to admit that he had not entered. He said it was recorded that the grain was bought after that. The government says it is depositing money in farmers’ accounts within two to three days of buying paddy. However, due to the non-receipt of money, about 20 farmers came back to the Civil Supplies Office in the Collectorate on Monday.
However, the officers said that they did not have any money and would give it when they arrived. Also, the farmers said that they all together have to be paid around Rs 35 lakh. Shocked farmers walked out of the office after they said that it was only Rs 8 lakh. Farmers added that they were being tortured by the authorities for two months. They however left the place after the police intervened.
