After tying rakhis to their crops and breaking coconuts in protest against the illegal land pooling survey in their villages, hundreds of farmers from Arepally and Paidipally that are under the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, are continuing their protests.
Further taking forward their protest, the farmers on Thursday reached to Gandhi statue on Arepalli Main Road with black ribbons tied around the eyes. Stating that they are taking the Gandhian way to protest peacefully against the illegal survey, the farmers alleged that the authorities are turning a blind eye to their complaints.
The farmers made it clear that they would intensify their protests until the authorities respond. Speaking of the same, Buddha Peddanna, convenor of Arepalli and Paidipally Farmers’ United Action Group, said that the families of 480 farmers have been protesting for the last 15 days even without batting on the eyelid.
“We have been cultivating this land for generations. We demand the officials to immediately stop the land bank survey. Is this the promised ‘Golden’ Telangana where farmers’ lives are on roads?” lashed out the farmers.
