No matter how many obstacles they faced, farmers of Telangana finally did what they announced they would do. They blocked the national highway against the KCR government. As a part of this, they demonstrated protests against land pooling on the National Highway 163 from Warangal to Hyderabad. Farmers, women, and children also took part in it. Against this backdrop, there was a huge traffic jam on the national highway.
Farmers on Tuesday called for a blockade of the National Highway in protest of Warangal land pooling and demanded the permanent repeal of GO 80. Police made preliminary arrests across the joint Warangal. All those who appeared to disrupt the farmers’ protest were detained.
Since Wednesday morning, the farmers have been taken into custody and taken to police stations. Most of them were arrested in Ainovolu, Jafargarh, and Dharmasagar mandals. These arrests were strongly condemned by the Raithu Aikya Aacharana. “In a democracy, don’t farmers have a constitutional right to protest?” they questioned.
Despite the police crackdown, some farmers, women, and children blocked the Warangal to Hyderabad National Highway 163. People sat on the roads and protested against the GO. The vehicles were stuck there was a huge traffic jam for a long time. They chanted ‘Down Down KCR’ throughout the time. During this dharna, a child caught everyone’s attention. She asked the police officer, “How can my father get me married if you take the only land we have?”
