“Change of guard in Telangana as chief minister and TRS founder K Chandrashekar Rao,” this has been news lingering in the Pragati Bhavan corridors from quite some time. In a fresh development, political corridors including the ministers’ offices are rife with reports that the transition may happen as soon as next month.
Adding strength to the speculations, senior leader Bodhan MLA Shakeel’s comments came as indirect confirmation for the state political circles, “Yes, the official ceremony will happen mostly in February. The party high command is into making changes in the cabinet too,” he said to sources who refused to disclose identity.
It can be noted that KCR, 60, has been away from public life since the coronavirus lockdown while his son, minister KTR was seen replacing him in many of the crucial meetings. This sent a message that KTR might succeed his father during the current term of the assembly, which ends in December 2023.
