Renowned singer, lyricist and artist Vangapandu Prasada Rao (77) passed away on Tuesday. The ‘Em Pillado Yeldamosthava…’ fame poet died with cardiac arrest at his residence in Pedabondapalli, Vizianagaram district. It is learnt that Vangapandu was suffering from prolonged illness and was bedridden from the past few months.
Born in June 1943 in Pedabondapalli near Parvathipuram, Vangapandu quit his job at the Visakhapatnam shipyard and chose to inspire people through his songs and speeches. He sang over 300 songs in three decades and his songs have been translated into 10 languages.
Vangapandu established Jana Natyamandali along with popular singer and revolutionary Gaddar in 1972 and received Kalaratna Purashkar in 2017 for multiple talents of composing, singing and dancing. he was awarded the Bollimuntha Sivaramakrishna Sahitya Award by B. Narasinga Rao in Tenali.
