It rained freebies for the GHMC residents with the ruling TRS showering promises in their GHMC poll manifesto released on Monday. Free water supply to those consuming less than 20,000 litres of drinking water per month and free power supply for certain categories took the spotlight in the manifesto.
Releasing the 16-page party’s manifesto at Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad, KCR the Party chief and the Chief Minister also promised that the freebies would be soon extended to other municipalities and municipal corporations in the state given the party comes into power the next time.
TRS, in their manifesto, announced waiver of Motor Vehicle Tax amounting to Rs267 crore for the two quarters of the current year payable by 337,611 vehicle owners, all over the state.
The manifesto further assured free power supply to salons, laundries and dhobi ghats will be provided not only in Hyderabad but also across the state, with effect from December.
Among the other poll promises, expansion of Metro rail network up to the Shamshabad international airport, expansion of multimodal transport system and implementation of the strategic road development project for smooth flow of traffic were also mentioned.
Setting up three more Telangana Institutes of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Hyderabad, linking Must river to the Godavari are the other two assurances mentioned in the ‘Greater’ manifesto.
For the film industry, the government assured reimbursing the state GST for small budget films (up to Rs10 crore), allowing theatres to increase the number of shows per day and make ticket pricing flexible following the losses incurred by the industry.
