In an attempt to change the status quo at the Southern Bank of Pangong Tso in Eastern Ladakh, Chinese troops violated consensus and carried out provocative military movements on the intervening night of August 29-30.
In a move which led to the fresh tensions at the Line Of Control(LAC), the Indian Army pre-empted People’s Liberation Army (PLA)’s activity and has undertaken measures to strengthen positions and thwart Chinese intentions.
As per the defence journalist Shiv Aroor, no casualties were suffered by India in a hand to hand combat where no weapons were used reportedly. Tensions ran high at the LOC with the unprovoked aggression which came months after the attack in Galwan which led to a series of consequences including the ban on Chinese apps.
“The Indian Army is committed to maintaining peace and tranquillity through dialogue but is also equally determined to protect its territorial integrity,” read the official statement released by Indian Army.
