G.O No 35 has turned a new headache for the theatre owners who are reeling up from the lockdown losses. In a recent development, authorities had issued orders have seized 15 theaters in the Krishna district which are claimed to run without permission.
Sudden raids were conducted on all the theaters across the district while the authorities enquired about the ticket prices. As a part of the inspection, the licenses of fifteen theaters in Krishna district were seized due to the arbitrary increase in ticket prices, non-renewal of the license and high prices in the canteen.
While the industry is ramping up recovering the losses, G.O No 35 came as a bombshell as the theatres were restricted with price and show timings. It is learned that some of the exhibitors gave up and informed the distributors that they are ready to run theatres with the restricted ticket prices. Further, sources confirmed that a few even shut down the theatres.
