Adding yet another unfortunate incident to the series of attacks on Hindu temples in Pakistan, an angry mob on Thursday vandalized a Hindu temple and desecrated the idols in Bhunga, a small town in the neighboring country.
In the viral video that went viral on social media, a group of young men were spotted holding large sticks who marched in the streets of the town. The men damaged the idols in the temple while shouting religious slogans.
Hours after the attack drew wrath from Hindu communities across the world, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the attack and assured that action will be taken against the culprits. “Strongly condemn attack on Ganesh Mandir in Bhung, RYK yesterday. I have already asked IG Punjab to ensure the arrest of all culprits and take action against any police negligence. The government will also restore the Mandir,” Pakistan PM tweeted.
