While the horrid scenes of people running for life out of breathlessness during the Visakhapatnam LG Polymers gas leak still remain in the wild dreams of state citizen, Mirzapur village in Medak district reported the same sort of incident in the wee hours of Friday.
According to the villager who sat for a protest at Karthikeya Pharma Company, tensions ran high as everyone experienced fatigue, eye irritation and breathlessness after the gas leakage from the factory. While no causalities are reported, villagers demanded the authorities to shift the pharma company from their habitat.
It was learnt that the villager raised concerns over the same a number of times which were snubbed by both pharma company and district authorities. Responding to the allegations, company MD clarified that there was a minor leakage at the steam pipeline and that their company don’t store lethal chemicals.
District Additional Collector Nagesh stated that they have already inspected the company and announced that the government has seized the company. The authorities also assured that the factory will be reopened only after the Pollution Control Board officials issued safety certificate.
