Hours after the death of Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and 12 others in an Air Force helicopter crash shocking facts are being revealed. As per the reports, alive and able to say his name when he was extricated from the wreckage of the Mi-17V5 chopper along with another passenger, later identified as Group Captain Varun Singh.
“We rescued two people alive. One was CDS Rawat. He spoke in a low tone to the defence personnel in Hindi and told his name. He died on the way to the hospital, confirmed senior leading fireman who reached first to the crash area. Gen Rawat, he said, suffered severe burns in the lower part of the body while most of the bodies were trapped under the debris.

The crash took place shortly after the Russian-made Mi-17 V5 chopper took off from the Air Force base in Sulur, Coimbatore, for Wellington in the Nilgiri Hills. General Rawat’s wife Madhulika Rawat was killed.
