The Telangana State Election Commissions overnight decision to consider tick mark as valid votes turned a tornado in the state political circles now. In the line of the orders issued by the SEC in the midnight, besides the swastik mark on the ballot papers, stamps indicating the number of polling stations should also be considered as votes.

It was learnt that the decision was taken with some of the employees in the meeting with EC stating that they had given the polling number by mistake instead of the swastik mark. Alleging the move to be in favour of the ruling TRS party, the main contender BJP on Friday approached the High Court over the Election Commission’s decision.
BJP leaders have filed a House Motion Petition seeking an inquiry into the matter. While the arguments are to begin shortly, BJP state unit president Bandi Sanjay demanded immediate cancellation of the orders passed.
