Like any other sector, corona left its footprints on ‘Greater’ election as well while the candidates in fray chose social media over direct campaigning. Huge public meetings, vigorous campaigning in wards and large gatherings were replaced by group messages, recorded calls and personal emails in a major shift of developments.
Citizen, contesting candidates and party cadre are equally concerned over the increasing corona cases in the Telugu states. To nail the art of social media, all the candidates irrespective of the party have already recruited a dedicated social media team for the campaigning.
Political leaders are also creating WhatsApp and Facebook groups adding the voters, wards wise and are campaigning with help of party followers in the area. Certain leaders were seen conducting a roll of video conferences with the root level campaigners. Votes, on the other hand, welcomed this digital campaigning in keeping the safety of the candidates and public in mind.
Further, the negative traction from the Hyderabad floods and multiple incidents of locals hurling the leaders over the flood relief have pushed the leaders to think twice before directly campaigning in the wards.
