The political landscape of Telangana has changed with the SEC confirming the results of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Elections(GHMC). Despite having an upper hand with 56 divisions in their account, the TRS cadre in the state fizzled out with the narrow escape in poll percentage.
“The result is not what we expected. We fell short by 20-25 seats than our expectations. 10-12 seats saw a margin of less than 200 votes. There’s nothing to be disappointed, we will be the single largest party,” said minister KTR strengthening various political theories supporting TRS’ downfall.
The All India Majlis Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, which has been the next big party in the city claimed 44 seats and ended up in the third-place due to the exceptionally strong performance by the BJP. After the state bifurcation, AIMIM gained strength which showed in first and second GHMC polls while Congress has been as Number:02 party both the times.
At the same time, BJP won not more than one seat which, however, gained tremendous progress in 2019 Loksabha polls by winning four seat-more than Congress. Things started to take an interesting turn with BJP’s surprise win in Dubbaka by-polls which boosted the morale of state political cadre.
Rounding off, there is no denial in stating that BJP turned into an alternative for TRS which fathomed negativity with disastrous handling of the flood recent situation.
