Seems like the Dubbaka by-polls has alerted the TRS cadre which fizzled out with the unexpected defeat in the hands of BJP. In what can be stated as one of the bait strategies to lure the voters ahead of GHMC elections, KCR-led TRS government on Saturday announced 50% rebate in property tax for property owners in the state.

The decision which came as a relief to nearly 13 lakh house owners who pay tax up to Rs 15,000 a year in Greater Hyderabad Municipality equally welcomed criticism from a section of political circles. It can be noted that last elections in 2016 as well, the Telangana government announced property tax relief. For those who had been paying Rs 1,000 tax a year, was asked to pay just nominal tax Rs 101.
Besides which, the state government has brought Diwali light in the homes of sanitary workers with a decision to enhance the salaries of sanitation workers by Rs 3,000 to Rs 17,500 from the current Rs 14,500. The GHMC elections are likely to be held on December 4 while a notification to this effect could be announced anytime by the State Election Commission (SEC).
