All lines are now clear for the most-awaited GHMC polls, as the election surpassed the recent HC hurdle on Monday. Hearing public interest litigation filed by Congress leader Dasoju Sravan over holding elections in the rotation of reservation, the High Court refused to stay GHMC elections.
Observed that the petition was filed in the last minute when the election commission gearing up to announce the election notification, the court stated that it could not stay elections. It can be noted that the petition in his PIL urged the court to grant a stay on the release of election notification until the rotation of reservation is made.
He also BC reservations are being implemented against the Supreme Court’s order and people from politically backward classes are not being recognized. Questioning why the petitioner has not approached the court so far, the court assured that the proper investigation will be ordered.
While the notification is yet to be released, the state election commission has already released the final electoral roll for GHMC elections. According to the sources at SEC, the election notification is likely to be released this week and the elections may be held in December first week.
