Gitam University run by Ex TDP MP late MVVS Murthy fell under the scathing attack of GVMC and revenue department while officials have demolished the compound wall and closed the entry route to the university.
Tensions ran high at the university on Saturday with heated arguments between the officials and authorities who claimed that the varsity management snubbed a series of notices from the government. A special battalion of police is deployed at the university while the beach road which leads to the university has also been closed on both the sides by the city police.

In yet another angle, the officials claimed that over 40.5 acres in Rushikonda and Endada mandals were encroached by the GITAM management. They also stated that based on the RDO report, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID is also probing into the matter. It was also informed that many more buildings in encroached lands will be demolished in the days to come.
Condemning the demolition without a prior intimation, Gitam management stated that the necessary documents has been submitted to the court, and there will be proper legal action taken. The demolition in the wake of YSRCPs plans to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam set ripples in Andhra political circles, while speculated MP VijayaSai Reddy’s hand behind.
