Tolivelugu Crime Bureau, Hyderabad: Everyone morning, somebody takes onto the television and reveals the most important footage and secrets of a dirt act happening in the state. Someone takes his mic to run miles across the roads only to deliver the truth. People like this- journalists, who strive to protect rights are now unable to defend their rights. Even though they worked hard and paid crores of rupees to the government, some of them died after waiting for the arrival of places for years!
Hyderabad journalists have been waiting for home places for 13 years. Chief Minister KCR and his son KTR have been believing that they will definitely provide housing to journalists during every election. The then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy issued orders allocating some land in Bashirabad and Nizampeta areas to provide housing in Hyderabad to all those who have been senior journalists since 2007.
About 1140 senior journalists were selected for the event. It then collected Rs 2 lakh from each of them and deposited nearly Rs 22 crore in a government account under the name ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Journalist Housing Society’. Since then, journalists have been waiting for housing places. Despite the continuous change in governments, there was never a moment when the housing construction has started at all.
After the formation of Telangana state in 2014, Chief Minister KCR spoke to media persons on several occasions and assured them on many occasions that he would definitely give you houses. However, it has been timed without being put into practice. When the journalists submitted petitions to his son, Minister KTR, on the same subject, he promised that he would not only take responsibility and give houses to all the journalists but also build beautiful buildings in them.
How can IT be given the land while there is a case in the Supreme Court?
In 2007, the then Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy issued orders allocating 38 acres of government land to journalists in Survey No. 25/2 in Peta Bashirabad. Shortly afterward, the High Court quashed the orders on the basis of petitions filed by some not to give places to journalists. With this, the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalist Housing Society filed an appeal in the Supreme Court under IA no. Went 22308/2021. The Supreme Court subsequently heard the arguments and gave an interim judgment.
The verdict said that the land allotted by the state government for journalists could be developed and the land could be handed over to the societies. A final verdict is yet to come. Copies of the interim judgment given by the Supreme Court were handed over to the present Chief Minister KCR and the Chief Secretary to the Government.
However, journalists are questioning how reasonable it would be for government officials themselves to give up space for “IT towers”. According to the rules, the government does not have the power to hand over a dispute over any land in court to “any other person or entity”. With the reckless attitude of the government officials, today, it is not auspicious for the state government to decide to tie the place of journalists to IT companies. There was a need to deal with this collectively. Wake up friends, if you do not stop at this time the real home will become a mirage for journalists.
Conspiracy in pursuit of guarantees
The situation is understandable given that Chief Minister KCR and Minister KTR have on several occasions buttered the journalists by giving false hopes on granting them beautiful houses at the assigned lands so that the journalists never see what’s coming for them. On February 8, Bhoomi Puja was held for these “IT Towers”. The Bhoomi Puja will be held under the auspices of Minister KTR himself. Although Minister KTR was aware from the outset that the Pate Bashirabad space was allotted to journalists, there were many doubts about handing it over to IT companies. It is understandable that the government is thinking in the direction of “what is the benefit” if it is given to journalists.
Finally, it is extremely sad that the government is allocating space for IT companies with the view that it should not give space to journalists. Journalists need to take note of this and carry out combat programs for the realization of home spaces. If this is not prevented, there will be no government-provided housing in the future. Therefore, it was necessary for all journalists to think wisely and work together to stop the construction of the “IT Tower” program.
