An outing with friends after months of lockdown ended by in grief with a 20-year-old engineering student succumbing to severe head injury because of the alleged negligence of the organisers.
Into details, Sri Varshini and her friends on Thursday went for go-karting at a play zone in Hyderabad’s Gurram Guda. Everything went well until Varshini’s hair had gotten entangled into the tyre of the kart causing a severe head injury. She was rushed by her friends to a hospital nearby where she was declared dead undergoing treatment.
The whole incident was captured by one of the friends who least expected the accident. The video shows them drive ahead, one after the other, as the operator turns on the engine. Around two and a half minutes into the video, someone can be heard raising an alarm and screaming from the circuit. After which the video abruptly ended.
According to the eye-witnesses, after Varshini’s hair entangled with the wheels, they got jammed and the vehicle overturned. Srivarshini was thrown off the go-kart, injured her head and lost consciousness. “We saw her scream for help. The management has failed to provide safety kits. No proper helmets, jackets or other gear were provided,” said one of the friends.
While the incident took place at around 7 PM on Thursday, a written complaint was filed with Meerpet police of death by negligence against Hasten Go-Karting on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, the engineering student’s parents have alleged that their daughter died due to the negligence of the go-karting organisers.
