BJP leader and MP Pragya Singh Thakur’s controversial statements on Nathuram Godse, the murderer of Mahatma Gandhi has left her in a fix. While DMK member A Raja cited the statement given by Godse on why he killed Mahatma Gandhi, during the discussion on the Special Protection Group Bill, Pragya surprisingly objected Raja asking his not to cite the examples of a ‘patriot’. This outrageous comment made in Lok Sabha triggered criticism from across the country including the supporters of BJP. In seconds protests erupted in the house from BJP members who demanded her to take back the statement and to give an apology. Post the session, as the National media flocked around her for an explanation, she said – “Listen to the whole thing first, I will reply tomorrow.”
While BJP working President JP Nadda condemned the statement, leaders from across the nation and ardent followers of Mahatma Gandhi held protests at many places. He also announced that Pragya Singh Thakur will be removed from the consultative committee of defence. “Regarding this session, she will not be allowed to participate in the parliamentary party meetings,” he added. Speaking at the election rally at Mathurapur, West Bengal, BJP supremo and Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he would never forgive Pragya for praising Godse. In no time, various hashtags against Pragya started trending on social media. Shockingly, a section of social media came in support of the MP from Bhopal who praised for coming out bravely.
