There was an unexpected response to a special program on women’s issues organized by the Governor of Telangana, Tamilisai Soundarajan at Raj Bhavan, under the name Mahila Darbar. On this occasion, several women complained to the Governor about the r*pe incidents taking place in the state. According to Tamilisai, the Mahila Durbar was organized with the aim of listening to the voices and trauma of women. The governor made sensational remarks at the event.
Government offices are for the people, no one can stop me!
“Many people have doubts about whether the governor will meet the people. Remember that any government office is for the people. I visited many of the victims at the security during the COVID situation. Women in society suffer many things. That is why I want to be a companion to the women of Telangana. I will be the bridge between the government and women. No one has the power to stop me. I am working for the people of Telangana. I will be a strong force on the side of the people. I do not care who speaks against me,” she said.
The state government is being irresponsible in the protection of women
“My heart breaks when I see the atrocities being committed against girls and women. The state government did not respond to my request for a two-day report on the Jubilee Hills mass r*pe incident. The protocol has not been followed in my case in the past. It is the government’s responsibility to answer those questions. I’m not fighting for myself, but for the people of Telangana. I will always be a backbone for the women of Telangana.”
“My heart breaks for all the victims of any kind. I convey women’s issues to the government in my strong voice. Requests from Raj Bhavan should be addressed by the authorities. There is no politics behind the Mahila Durbar. I will continue this program in the future,” said the governor.
At a time when the distance between the governor and the government is growing, there is a debate on the Mahila Durbar organized by Tamilisai.
