Corona tension prevails in Telangana. The number of positive cases is increasing day by day. In this context, it seems that Govt. of Telangana is planning to extend holidays to schools and colleges. Holidays are announced for educational institutions from 8-16th of this month during the Sankranthi festival. However, authorities intend to extend them for another four days.
Schools are due to reopen on January 17th. However, it seems that the idea of authorities is to extend holidays in view of COVID infection. A report to this effect has already been submitted to Minister Sabita Indrareddy. In this context, there is a campaign that the holidays may be extended to the 20th of this month.
As of now, number of cases in Telangana is high. With cases only increasing with each day, and no decline seen, the government has extended COVID restrictions to 20 of this month. It is hoped that this will reduce cases on a daily basis. It also seems to be looking to keep schools open until then.
Looking at pace of COVID’s spread there is still a chance that cases will increase massively for another four days. Under these circumstances, if schools were open, roads would be full with students and parents coming to drop them off. Authorities believe the virus could spread again as traffic and crowds increase. Hence the information that a report has been sent to the Minister to extend. It is unclear what decision the government will take on matter.
