Miss Universe title has finally returned home after 21 years as Chandigarh-born Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned the winner of the 70th edition of the pageant. In the grand event held on Sunday night in Eliat, Israel, a 21-year-old from Punjab claimed the crown edging out Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira and South Africa’s Lalela Mswane.
Harnaaz, who started modeling at a young age, gradually made her way to beauty pageants and won her first pageant — Miss Chandigarh 2017. Before the Chandigarh-based model, only two Indians have won the title of Miss Universe – actors Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
Her confidence will be her victory, we love you Harnaaz Sandhu! What a reply and what an amazing advice to the young women out there 🤩@HarnaazSandhu03 #MissUniverse #MissUniverse2021 #HarnaazSandhu #india pic.twitter.com/PK4j500sqU
