The body of the 19-year-old Dalit woman from Uttar Pradesh who died undergoing treatment after the alleged gangrape by four upper-caste men in Hathras district was cremated on the wee hours of Wednesday idea dramatic circumstances. According to the allegation made by the victims family, the UP police have forcibly taken away by the police in the middle of the night for final rites.
While the body of the victim reached her village around midnight and the cremation was done by 3 am on Wednesday. The villagers lashed out that the police didn’t heed to their request to take the body of the woman to her house. “The passage for the ambulance was blocked and finally cremation took place in village. Even the family members were not allowed,” they said.

Videos of family members urging the police to allow then to the pyre and mother weeping helplessly as cops insist on taking her daughter straight to cremation, without allowing the last look left netizen heart-broken. Her father and brothers sat on the protest but they were taken away by the cops in a black Scorpio with UP plates. Many of the villagers were held in house arrest.
Police, on the other hand, refuted the reports that the forcibly cremated the victim’s body. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Veer denied any “urgency” by police in cremation despite the fact that cremation usually does not take place in the night.
The woman belonged to the Scheduled Castes community, while her attackers were from a so-called upper caste. The four accused who were charged with gangrape and attempt to murder, apart from charges under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, have been arrested.
They were arrested based on a statement provided by the victim on September 23, when she briefly regained consciousness. She had accused three men – Sandeep, his uncle Ravi (35) and their friend Luv Kush, of committing the crime.
