In a roll of setbacks, here comes another one for Jagan-led government on Friday. Challenging the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to constitute an expert committee to decide the fate of Amaravati, a group of farmers filed a writ petition in the High Court. Upon hearing the arguments, Justice U Durga Prasada Rao issued notices to the Centre and the YSRCP government and posted the next hearing on November 28.
The court also sent notices to Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana and Buggana Rajendranath Reddy who made comments on shifting the capital from Amaravati which reportedly created chaos in the farmer community around the Amaravati. In their petition filed, the farmers noted that the five-member committee violates the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Act, 2014. This has come as a shocker to the Jagan-Government after calling off ties with Singapore’s Consortium within Amaravati.
