Slashing out the ordinance passed by Andhra Pradesh government over removing Ramesh Kumar as APSEC through an ordinance, the state High Court on Friday gave a shocker to Jagan and his team. Stating that the state government has no power to bring an ordinance in accordance with Article 213, High Court instructed the AP government to re-appoint Nimmagadda as APSEC.
It all started with Ramesh Kumar postponing the panchayat elections in the view of corona pandemic which triggered the CMO which didn’t get a prior intimation. Followed by which the State government has issued an ordinance making changes to the selection of the Commissioner of Elections. With this new ordinance not only did Ramesh Kumar lose his cadre but also helped the government to appoint a new SEC.
It is to the known knowledge that more than 13 petitions were filed challenging the government’s decision to remove Ramesh Kumar through an ordinance while Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan approved the ordinance, amending the AP Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 in no time. The move received a wave of criticism from the Opposition leaders who backed Ramesh Kumar.
