Prime Minister Narendra Modi will tour Punjab once again after two long years. This tour was commenced in the wake of Assembly elections in a few weeks. Modi will be laying a foundation for projects worth Rs 42,750 crore, especially in Ferozepur, a border district of Punjab.
As a part of this, Modi will also be laying the foundation stone for several projects including Delhi-Amritsar Sir-Katra Expressway, PGIMER Satellite Center at Ferozepur. There is speculation indicating that post the event, he will also participate in the election rallies.
While it looks great from the outside, sources reveal that people aren’t happy with his visit. Due to some of the conflicts that arose in the states of Punjab and Haryana, local farmer unions are opposing his tour. Farmers are demanding a law that could be brought to provide a minimum support price for the crop grown.
Police have set up heavy security in Ferozepur. Additional DGP G Nageswara Rao said that adequate security arrangements have been made as a precautionary measure to prevent any unexpected incidents during the Prime Minister’s visit.
