While the downpour in the past two days battered Hyderabad inducting several low-lying areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, Commissioner Lokesh Kumar on Thursday evening issued a statement warning the citizen of further cloudburst in the next few hours.
According to the warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains are expected to lash the city for the next three to four hours due to the formation of the low-pressure zone over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
Thereby, the officials have started the evacuation process in low-lying areas like Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. While various DRF and Monsoon Emergency teams are deployed across the city, the commissioner urged the citizens to stay home and remain vigilant.
It can be noted that nearly 100 grievances were lodged by the citizens in this rain, the call centre of GHMC received 44, My GHMC App 42, Dial 100 9 just for the two-hour downpour in the city. The complaints were of waterlogging, dilapidated building or wall collapse, fallen tree, repairs to roads and potholes.
