Tension ran high at Jamia Nagar with hundreds of students from Jamia Milia Islamia got into a scuffle with the Delhi police who tried to stop the protestors marching towards the parliament on Monday. With the students railing against the police jumped over the barricades which led the police to resort into lathi charge. While some of the protesters have been detained by the police, a few of the students who were injured were rushed to the nearest hospital.
The protestors including students from Jamia Millia Islamia, its alumni and the locals from the surrounding areas lashed out on the Delhi police for deploying scores of police, tear gas and water cannons in a peaceful protest. Videos of the police trying to stop the protesters, students railing against the police and jumping barricades are going viral on social media while students flooded the comments section condemning the brutality of the Delhi police.
