Claiming that the Jawaharlal Nehru University has become a hub for anti-national and anti-Hindu activities, Hindu Raksha Dal, a lesser-known Hindu group has claimed responsibility for the violence in the university on Sunday. In a video that has been going viral on social media which was reportedly released by the group itself, Pinky Chaudhary of the Hindu Raksha Dal was seen claiming credit for the JNU violence.
“JNU is a hotbed of anti-national activities and we cannot tolerate this. We take full responsibility for the attack in JNU,” he said in the 1-minute and 59-second video. Further talking, Pinky warned the communist groups that their outfit will take the same action in other universities if they try to indulge in anti-national activities. “They live in our country, they eat here, get their education here and then indulge in anti-national activities. We are not ready to tolerate this. Our workers are always ready to sacrifice our lives for the country,” he said.

Pinky’s admission came close on the heels of Delhi police registering FIRs on JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh and 19 others for attacking security guards and vandalising the server room. On the other hand, government sources have said that the claims made by Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinky Chaudhary are being investigated. Delhi police have been facing rife criticism for not arresting any of the suspects besides the pressures from student unions and Oppositions.
