Second capital..though the term is quite common to Andhra Pradesh people, it is a new concept for Telangana citizens. The state has already witnessed demands to make Warangal as second capital to the state and Hyderabad as second capital to the country. In the wake of Huzurabad by-polls, the same demands assumed significance.
Usually, the administrators go for second capital for ease of administration, to take the welfare schemes to the root level, or to minimize the damage caused by natural disasters. Which ultimately means that the second capital will be the center of administration. This is what is happening in Huzurabad right now.
The TRS ministers seem to be more active in the constituency than in the ministerial quarters in Hyderabad. Many ministers started functioning from the poll-bound Huzurabad while the new welfare schemes are being kickstarted here turning it into another capital for the state.
To recollect, the political barometer read high before the GHMC elections as well. However, TRS leaders didn’t resort to luring leaders from opposition parties with crucial posts and voters with new schemes. Under the name of Huzurabad by-polls, almost six leaders got good posts in the party. The budget allotted to the elections has left many in shock.
Even the students, activists and party cadre who have issues are reaching to Huzurabad with all the ministers ad district-level leaders busy in the constituency for election campaign. This created a notion in the state political circles that Huzurabd turned the second capital for the state.
